At least two films opening this week qualify as must-sees, Olivier Assayas'
Summer Hours -possibly my favorite new release of the year-to-date and a picture I wrote about back in March - and
Anaglyph Tom, Ken Jacobs' digital reworking of the same one-reeler he dissected in his 1969 classic
Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son. Less successful is Rian Johnson's
The Brothers Bloom, a mostly uninspired grafting of an explicitly Wes Anderson-derived quirkiness onto a comic caper picture.

Also up: a short piece on Oliveira's
I'm Going Home at the L Magazine blog.
